Police with high-powered rifles in armoured trucks have locked down a suburban street in Sydney.

Dramatic raids are underway in Revesby in the city’s south-west, with a BearCat vehicle blocking Ferndale Road.

It is a planned operation and not believed to be related to terrorism, a police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

Mt Druitt police may be executing an arrest warrant in relation to a previous kidnapping, Seven News reported.

Streets were blocked off and officers were telling an individual to come out of a house, a witness said on Twitter.

More to come.
