Three Midland County teams are among those who have advanced to the Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association Region C meet next weekend at the Midland County Fairgrounds.
Midland High, Bullock Creek and Meridian all advanced by placing in the top two in their respective divisions at the district competition last weekend. Bullock Creek took first and Midland took second in the B Division, while Meridian took first in the A Division.
Midland’s team includes Makenna Cummings, Serena Fleming-Dittenber, Sophie Lewis, Victoria McKinney, Madison Pfahl, Sidney Smith, Elizabeth Wandor and Allie McMillan.
“Four of them are pretty new riders,” Midland coach Bonita Johnston said. “They’ve done fabulously well to get to where we have gotten.”
The top two teams in each division at each of the five regional meets around the state will qualify for the MIHA state championships, also at the Midland County Fairgrounds, two weeks after the regionals.
