The Flash in Season 3

It’s been a sobering few weeks in the entertainment world. After Harvey Weinstein was accused by a myriad of women of sexual misconduct, the floodgates opened in Hollywood. New accusations have been made just about every day, against a variety of powerful Hollywood directors, producers, and actors. This has affected the world of TV production, as House of Cards have been shut down indefinitely amid Kevin Spacey’s allegations of sexual misconduct. And now it appears that this will affect the Arrow-verse as well, as The Flash showrunner and creator Andrew Kreisberg has reportedly been suspended amid sexual harassment allegations.

This news comes to us from Deadline, which is reporting that WBTV is doing an investigation into the allegations made against Andrew Kreisberg. These allegations, and Kreisberg’s suspension, are sure to be shocking considering his lengthy role in the Arrow-verse, which is essentially The CW’s bread and butter. He created all four of of the network’s superheroic shows, including Supergirl.

Andrew Kreisberg is also the sole showrunner of The Flash, and it’s unclear exactly how the show will continue production amid his suspension. If the writers and directors for the next few episodes are locked down, perhaps it will be able to to continue producing Season 4. Then again, we don’t know the details of the allegations. If they are serious and lengthy enough, perhaps production will be suspended as the investigation mounts. It’s all unclear at this point.

This is just the latest in an already long line of powerful Hollywood men who are being accused of sexual harassment/assault. After Harvey Weinstein was ousted from his various positions, Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp accused Kevin Spacey of sexually harassing him at the age of 14. This inspired a slew of other accusers to come forward about Spacey, many of whom worked on the House of Cards set. Netflix has now cut ties with the Oscar and Tony Award winner, and production on Season 6 of the acclaimed series has been halted indefinitely.

These types of bombshell accusation have shown no signs of slowing. Although Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey have been the most publicized, a ton of other powerful Hollywood men have been met with harrowing accusations as well. The list includes Charlie Sheen, Dustin Hoffman, Brett Ratner, and most recently George Takei. Louis CK also made waves for admitting fault and validating the claims made by his accusers. He’s since been dropped from a variety of projects.

We’ll just have to wait and see how WBTV’s investigation into Andrew Kreisberg is handled. He’s had his hands in all of the Arrow-verse shows, so it has the potential to affect The CW’s superheroic properties. We’ll be sure to update you on all details as they become public.
