Dairy farmers from northern Victoria have been dubbed the best-dressed family at Stakes Day for the second year running.
Taking out Fashions on the Field for Stakes Day on Saturday, the Palmer family from Echuca managed to sway judges with their co-ordinated blue and red ensembles, just one year after their extended family took out the same prize.
Mum Annalise and kids Poppy, 12, Finn, 11, and Oscar, 9, travelled more than 250 km to try their hand at the competition at the insistence of Annalise’s sister and former winner, Cecelia.
“It took a lot of urging from her, she was pretty keen to get us (to compete)” Annalise told reporters.
Annalise, a local school teacher, credits their winning looks to a hot fashion tip from Cecelia.
“My sister went to Paris in the middle of the year and she said red was the colour … And I really love the colour blue so it was nice to mix red and pale blue together.
“The hardest part was finding red socks for the boys,” she said.
The only family member absent was Dad, who couldn’t leave the dairy farm on Saturday.
The Palmer family take home a $20,000 prize pool that includes a Dubai holiday, which Annalise says they’ll take with Cecelia’s family.
“I think we’ll all go on a holiday together … it will be nice.”
