The Russian Cross-Country Ski Federation said Thursday that four cross-country skiers at the Sochi Olympics had been disqualified by the International Olympic Committee and banned from all future Olympics: Maxim Vylegzhanin, Alexei Petukhov, Yulia Ivanova and Evgenia Shapovalova.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has commented on the Washington accusations of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. In February. And when is our presidential election?
Mr Putin said the move was a USA response to “imaginary interference in their election”.
“There are major suspicions that [the doping scandal]is aimed at creating discontent among sport fans and athletes, which some desire, by suggesting that the state was involved into the violations and is responsible for it”.
The US was home to “the main companies that order and pay for television rights, the main sponsors and advertisers”, he said.
“The controlling stake of it is in the USA”, he added.
USA intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation was involved in a campaign to try and influence the 2016 US presidential election. Putin and all other Russian officials have consistently denied that such meddling took place.
“In response to our alleged interference in their [US] election they want to create problems during the election of the Russian president”, President Vladimir Putin said.
In July 2016, an independent report commissioned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) concluded that more than 1,000 Russians benefited from the doping program across 30 sports and found evidence of state-sponsored doping in Russia.
Putin, who denies all accusations of state-sponsored doping, hasn’t confirmed whether he will run for re-election but if he does, he is expected to win.
