Police cordon set up on Liverpool road after crash

Part of a road in Liverpool was cordoned off on Saturday as police investigated a crash.

Officers from Merseyside Police, together with paramedics, were called to Anfield at about 4.05pm following a collision between a Ford Focus and a Citroen Picasso.

Police closed a section of road where Utting Avenue meets Pinehurst Avenue.

A force spokesman said: “Merseyside Police is investigating after a road traffic accident in Anfield this afternoon, Saturday 11 November.

“At around 4.05pm, emergency services were called to the junction of Utting Avenue and Pinehurst Avenue following a collision between a Ford Focus and a Citroen Picasso. Two people were taken to hospital, one as a precaution and the second with a knee injury.

“A portion of the road was closed while enquiries were carried out and anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 749.”

Pictures show police tape set up to secure a scene, while officers conduct inquiries in the surrounding area.

Two ambulances are also clearly visible in the pictures.
