Yesterday detectives investigating the death of the man who was found on Ten Acres Lane on Tuesday arrested the 57-year-old man in the North Manchester area.
Just after midnight that night police also arrested a 60-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Both remain in custody for questioning.
The investigation team believe they have now managed to identity the deceased however formal ID is yet to take place.
Detective Chief Inspector Lewis Hughes of GMP’s Major Incident Team said:
Our investigation remains on-going as we attempt to establish the full circumstances surrounding this man’s death, however we believe we have now managed to identify him.
We are making good progress with our enquiries however I would like to continue to appeal for information about what happened the day he was found.
This was at around 5pm, which is a busy time of the day where a lot of people may have seen something that they don’t realise could be key to this investigation. Every piece of information is vital in helping us build a full picture of how he died.
