PM Modi interacted with the future Indian football stars on their return back to India following the AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit of chief executives in Vietnam, Trump also slammed China for trade practices that, according to him have put Americans out of work and warned that the USA would no longer “turn a blind eye” to trade abuses, reported Times of India.
PM Modi said India can achieve a lot in football and mentioned that sports helps in developing personality and overall development.
The India U-17 team participated for the first time in Federation Internationale de Football Association U-17 World Cup by qualifying automatically for being the host nation. “Based on your performance people have started knowing you so there is a huge responsibility on your shoulders”, said PM Modi.
He further added that the boys must stay together as a team and in a few years time should establish themselves as professional players.
Modi, a sports enthusiast, who has spoken about the significance of sports umpteenth times in “Mann ki Baat”, expressed that “there is no life without sports”.
The players also presented an autographed jersey of U-17 football team to PM Modi.
“When Jeakson scored the goal it gave the biggest reason for all of us to celebrate”. The India U-17 team and India U-19 teams are now slated to ply their trade in the upcoming Hero I-League 2017-18.
