Father charged with murder of baby girl in Brookdale, south of Perth
A father charged with murdering his baby girl last night has made a brief appearance in the Perth Magistrates Court.
Arron Colin Martin, 35, was arrested after emergency services crews were called to a house in Chiltern Avenue in Brookdale, south of Perth, about 8:00pm yesterday.
They found the six-month-old infant with multiple injuries and rushed her to hospital, where she later died.
A WA Police spokesman confirmed the girl, Isabella Sully Jean Martin, was Mr Martin’s daughter.
In court today, a charge of murdering Isabella was put to Mr Martin but he was not required to plead. No further details of the alleged offence were provided.
A Brookdale neighbour, Melissa, said a couple aged in their 30s had been living at the property since she moved into the area five years ago.
She said they kept to themselves.
“I mean that is really sad … I wouldn’t think something like that would happen around here.” she said.
“They were very quiet people they never really heard anything from them,” she said.
“They always had roller shutters, so the house was always closed I suppose, so [we]never really saw them much.”
“He complained about my dog, that’s the only interaction I’ve had with him, but I saw the baby six or seven months ago.”
Another neighbour said she believed two men lived at the home, and a woman would visit with a baby.
Mr Martin was remanded in custody until he appears in court again at the end of the month.
