Kevin De Bruyne ‘is definitely the best player in the Premier League at the moment,’ according to his Belgium team-mate and Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
The Manchester City playmaker has been sensational under manager Pep Guardiola this season as his team occupy top spot in the Premier League table, eight points clear of rivals Manchester United.
De Bruyne has contributed two goals and six assists in 11 Premier League appearances and scored the winner when City met Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on September 30.
De Bruyne was sold by Chelsea to Wolfsburg for just £18million in January 2014 after he failed to earn a regular spot in the side, but Hazard believes he is now a vital cog in Guardiola’s machine.
‘Kevin is definitely the best player in the Premier League at the moment,’ Hazard said, quoted in The Mirror.
‘City are the best Premier League team and Kevin is an important player in Guardiola’s system.
‘It’s easy to play with Kevin because we’re good players.’
Hazard and De Bruyne are on international duty and are expected to feature in Belgium’s friendlies over the break.
Roberto Martinez’s side host Mexico on Friday and then take on Japan four days later.
Hazard seems to have overcome an ankle injury which delayed the start to his season but he remains unsure whether he will get maximum game time in this international window.
‘Will I play both games? It would be silly to play 90 minutes twice but I still want to play,’ he added.
‘Personally I feel good. There is no apprehension related to my return from injury.’
