Burnley News: Hendrick hoping Dyche stays; Defour knows Clarets form key to Russia trip

Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick says the players want manager Sean Dyche to stay.

Hendrick says Burnley’s players are hoping Dyche will remain at Turf Moor amid interest from Everton.

“He [Dyche] has been great for us,” Hendrick told Sky Sports News. “You never know what way a club can go if a new manager comes in or a manager leaves.

“We have got on well with him. We work hard every day. We enjoy going into training. That is the environment he has created there.

“But at the end of the day it is his decision. I am sure he has aspirations to go high in the game. He does talk about it himself and he is still a young manager.

“Obviously we would love to have him still at Burnley but it is his decision.”

Meanwhile, Steven Defour knows any chance of making Belgium’s World Cup squad depends on an excellent season with Burnley.

“There’s so much competition, especially in midfield, so I have to play a very good season at Burnley and then see what happens,” the former Standard Liege midfielder said.

“My biggest aspiration is to perform and perform well for Burnley and then anything can happen.”
