Arrest warrant issued for Unison treasurer over fraud charges

Craig Woods failed to attend Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Oct 10)

An arrest warrant was issued today (Oct 10) to detain a man accused of fraud in his role as a treasurer for the union UNISON.

The action was taken after Craig Woods, 39, failed to attend Nottingham Magistrates’ Court to face a charge brought under the Fraud Act.

Sarah Sanderson, prosecuting, applied for the warrant. She told the court that there was a certificate which showed details of the hearing had been sent to Woods.

A warrant without bail was granted by District Judge Tim Spruce.

Woods is charged with committing fraud at Vivian Avenue, Carrington, while occupying a position of union treasurer, in which he was expected to safeguard the financial interests of UNISON, that he dishonestly abused that position.

The charge is dated between January 1, 2011 and ends on October 16, 2015.

His address on court documents was given as Mercaston Lane, Kedleston, near Derby .
